lahore carpet - islamic arts festival 2025
this installation invites you to step into the raw, transformative heart of mughal carpet-making—before the knots are tied, before the patterns emerge. suspended strands of freshly dyed wool, in shades of indigo, madder red, saffron, and pomegranate, flow through the space like rivers of potential, embodying the moment where material, thought, and craft converge.
each thread represents the beginning of a journey—a pause between nature and art—where color breathes life into wool, and imagination awaits the weaver’s hand. the swaying fibers echo the slow, meditative process of mughal carpet weaving, where a single piece could take years to complete, knot by knot, thought by thought.
